<![CDATA[Favours Auction]]>Tue, 30 Oct 2012 08:47:12 GMThttp://www.ennismusicalsociety.com/1/post/2012/10/favours-auction7.htmlFolks,
Last December, the Society held a very successful
'Favours Auction' Fundraiser. It brought in over €2,000 and it was also a good night's entertainment with Cormac O' Sullivan strutting his stuff and squeezing every possible euro out of
prospective buyers.
The Committee plans to hold another EMS Favours
Auction in early December this year (exact date and venue to be confirmed) and we'll be looking to raise a similar sum again. The Favours Auction idea is very simple. Members come up with novel
ideas for auction to Joe and Mary Public –particularly in the build-up to
Christmas. Among others, last year we sold home-cleaing, babysitting, cooking, pedicure, dog-walking, boiler-cleaning services. We sold
paintings, cakes, photographs, hampers - all prepared by members.
We managed to get some sponsorship (e.g. visits to Santa's grotto,
sponsored 4-balls in golf, Munster Rugby tickets, a physio session) and we even had Richard do some home visits on Christmas Eve dressed as
Santa.
It was a really successful event with around 25
items sold on the night. We want to make it bigger and better this year and that requires that we overcome two major glitches:
i) We need to increase the number of people attending
the event so we need every member doing their utmost to be there on the night and to publicise the event with their friends and family.
ii) We need a larger number of members putting up
favours for auction; last year the burden fell on a small number of
individuals.
I'll be taking the lead in organising the event. I'm just anxious now to
bring the event to your attention and to ask you to consider what you might be
able to offer for auction.
Remember nothing is too small!
I'll be following up with members over the coming weeks and would really
ask you all to help make the auction a very successful fundraiser for EMS.
Thanks!!
