History of the Society
The Franciscan Order is the foundation on which the Ennis Muscial Society breathed its first life.
It was in 1953 that the Society, then known as the 'Friary Choral', under the dedicated direction of its founder the late Fr. Eunan OFM, embarked on its debut performace, "The County Girl" at the New Hall (known to some as Paddy Cons, The Jet Club and now home to Maddens Furniture).
Six years were to elapse before its next production "Wild Violets" in May 1959 by the revived Society, then known as the Franciscan Musical Society.
Now over 50 shows later the Society is going from strength to strength. Faces come go but each year brings another successful production full of stories of dedication, humour, mishaps, enjoyment, disappointment and performing excellence.
